History
A history of building expertise coupled with the strength of Butler® systems has made CWB Contractors, Inc. the region’s full-service contractor of choice. The history of CWB dates back to 1952, when Donald Leonard began his career in construction. Working in various capacities as a laborer, carpenter, and mason, Donald assisted with the completion of a number of large-scale Massachusetts construction projects such as the Brockton Veteran’s Hospital, Randolph High School, Veterans Housing Project, and Columbia Point Hosing, to name a few.
In 1955, Donald formed Craftwood Builders the organization began as a residential homebuilder and later grew to become a commercial and industrial contractor, specializing in remodeling projects. In 1962, Craftwood secured a franchise with Parkersburg Buildings and begin offering pre-engineered structures.
In 1972, the decision was made to change the organization’s name to CWB Contractors, Inc. to reflect the business’s commercial and industrial specialty. Then, in 1981, Parkersburg Buildings became Butler Manufacturing, Inc., and CWB became a Butler Builder®. CWB is now celebrating 24 years with Butler Manufacturing. Since then, the organization has experienced steady growth in the pre-engineered building industry. Our company has expanded from a modest beginning in 1955 to an operation employing five full-time office staff and 17 field personnel. Although Donald has retired from the business, his sons have assumed ownership and manage day-to-day business operations. Stephen and Larry assist with construction projects in the field and with the erection of buildings. Jim works full-time in management and sales.
